Maple leaves may be the key to youthful skin

Newly licensed by Verdure Sciences, Maplifa – an extract from red maple leaf – might help slow down the skin’s aging process, according to researchers at The University of Rhode Island. Navindra Seeram, the project’s principal investigator studying the chemical composition of sugar and red maple trees for their therapeutic value, believes certain compounds called glucitol-core-containing gallotannins (GCGs) may also act as protective agents against inflammation, age spots and freckles, and could even lighten unwanted dark spots.
